ARMOR of GOD

Armor of God

A spiritual battle rages all around us. It’s here, every day, and we stand on the front line of Good Vs. evil. I always felt a calling to join the fight but I never could seem to find the battlefield. I would see an evangelist on television spreading the good news of Hope. I would read in the newspaper of those doing great work in charity. I would hear of wealthy philanthropists giving tremendous amounts of money to research. I watched Hospice workers doing what they do with such great devotion, but I never could find a way to become personally involved.
A wise friend recently reminded me that I could join the spiritual fight anytime - simply by helping someone in need, or by giving to the less fortunate, by offering an uplifting word to someone having a bad day, or by returning change miscounted by a distracted cashier. Indeed, my friend was absolutely right! There are many ways to join the spiritual fight. Some will do great things in great ways. Others will do great things in small ways. What is important is that we ALL “do” something.
I urge you to heed the advice of my wise friend. Join the battle in whatever way you can. Preach the Gospel. Donate to charity. Visit the sick or simply offer a kind word to a total stranger. Whatever you choose to do, prepare yourself. God has given us the armor we need for any fight we might encounter along our journey.
Ephesians 6:10-13
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
